Weird how people think that there’s a piece software that will solve their problems. The reason Porche is such a nice car is because everything works together. You can think of Apple products this way too; it’s never about a single feature – it’s about everything working together nicely and intuitively.

Fortunatslly, we don’t have to wait for Apple to move and build everything. We’ve been working hard on a several mindblowing verticals and we’re going to announce the launch of our new platform, MAINFRAME2, in a few short weeks.

Stay tuned!

Force quit the app.

That’s right; there’s no option to cancel import of video files into iMovie’11.

I’ve just spent a great day around the city with Mina and Alec; I was looking to check out about one hour of footage videos in iMovie.

So, I started by importing plain H.264 files (from Nikon D7000). But instead of  opening them directly, iMove started to “load” them. Without a cancel options. It figured that I can wait for 45 minute before I can see what’s in. Seriously?

Making things worse, those same files wouldn’t open in QuickTime player (standalone app) while iMovie’s import is under way (I hoped to review files manually while waiting for import to finish).

Adding insult to injury, my MacBook Pro (2011) slowed down to a crawl during the import, rendering it useless until import has finished.

On the road this weekend (thus no YouTube video editor review): trying to help my Beresford Park Tennis Team do well at the USTA National Championships in Tuscon, Arizona. My first time in the Southwest — Arizona’s landscape is just plainly awesome (iPhone doesn’t do it justice).

Cool skies over Arizona desert. September 23, 2011

I grabbed one at Best Buy last week for $99. Talk about a price drop; it launched last fall for $299.

I already own several TV “media players”: both 1st and 2nd gen Apple TVs, as well as a good old PC connected to my TV. They are all deficient in one way or another, so I thought that Revue deserves a chance. It short — it doesn’t.
After spending two evenings with it, here’s what I think of Revue:

Outside IDF

A news-heavy week with all the shows packed in: big guys going at each other (Intel’s IDF vs Microsoft’s Build); TechCrunch packing the house at another Disrupt. Plus, Google just announced their new cloud-based video editing solution ( I’ll post my thoughts on it after the weekend).

I spent most of my week  hanging out at the AMD’s anti-IDF Fusion event at San Francisco, just across the street from IDF. Some key AMD people were there, and they got to see  vReveal 3 (our video solution for the masses) flying on A8 APU (running OpenCL).   Continue Reading »

It’s a great day at MotionDSP — we’ve just launched our new website: WiderAlbum.com.

We’ve created it with a sole purpose of letting you enjoying panoramas and wide photos with no distractions; from one edge of your screen to another (literally!) It’s been designed from the ground up, and it’s probably the most beautiful panorama gallery on the Web. Check it out – it’s really pretty. Continue Reading »
